Come and learn the art of origami paper crane making as a form of meditation and finding calm.
Taught by our wonderful instructor Ximena Kupferwasser

Thoughts from our instructor. About five years ago, overwhelmed by the state of the world and desperate to reduce my cell phone use, I turned to paper crane making. I was reading books to my young daughter that had paper crane illustrations in them, and I felt drawn to the practice of origami. Through trial and error, exploring a variety of types of paper, I taught myself how to make paper cranes. The process of folding the paper was soothing and grounding. I learned that neither I nor the origami paper liked to be rushed. I payed close attention to every crease, to every fold, and the process would let me know if I was getting ahead of myself. It taught me to slow down. I started taking my origami paper with me everywhere I went—to the park while my daughter played, listening in on a work meeting, or hanging out with friends. It helped me to feel and be more present. As of today, I have close to 700 paper cranes, and they are my constant reminder of the importance of cultivating and nurturing my sense of calm.
