Sewing Supplies List

A guide of what to buy to start your sewing journey

  • A good pair of sewing shears to cut fabric that will be dedicated to just cutting fabric

  • A small pair of snips or small sharp scissors for trimming thread tails

  • Pins - glass head pins are great because you can iron them. Anywhere from 1 ¼” to 1 ½”

  • Safety Pins

  • A pin cushion or magnetic pin caddy

  • Seam gauge

  • Tape measure 

  • Marking tool such as tailors chalk or washable markers or erasable pens

  • A seam ripper

  • A clear 18” ruler

  • Assorted machine needles both sizes and types

  • Assorted hand sewing needles both sizes and types

  • Needle threader

  • Thimble

  • Corner Turner

  • Extra bobbins - make sure that bobbins are compatible with your machines brand and model
